Texas A&M’s top-Ranked 2027 recruiting class added its 20th member Monday with the commitment of elite kicker Andres von der Meden of Tomball.
A 5-star prospect and the number one place kicker in the class according to Kohl’s Kicking, von der Meden chose the Aggies over Texas Tech, Arkansas, Houston, Ole Miss and others. He visited Tech twice, including once for an official visit, but his official visit to Aggieland was enough to a make his move and commit to A&M.
Last June, von der Meden competed against 2026 prospects in Kohl’s summer showcase and tied for second with his teammate-to-be, Asher Murray. Since then, he’s only improved. At the 2025 Kohl’s Texas Winter Showcase, he went 15 for 15 in field goal attempts and added a 79-yard kickoff with a hang time of 3.8 seconds.
In the May Spring Showcase, von der Meden made 14 of 15 field goals and won the kickoff competition with an 83-yard boot that had 4.3 seconds of hang time.
“His ball flight is different and will be highly sought after in the 2027 class,” Kohl’s said in their review of von der Meeden’s work with them.
The 6-foot, 170-pound rising senior was also ranked as a 4-star kicker, which may give A&M an opportunity to fill both spots with one scholarship kicker.
Von der Meden is Texas A&M’s 20th commit in this class and the only specialist to date.
