Texas A&M 2027 Commit Kaden McCarthy back in town for Spring Game

Texas A&M’s spring game brought plenty of eyes to College Station, including one of the program’s future pieces already committed in the 2027 class.

EDGE commit Kaden McCarty made the trip in and left with a strong impression of how things are trending, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

“I saw a lot of really good things out of the spring game,” McCarty said. “Really seeing how the defensive play calls were affecting the offense and how some of the freshmen’s development has gone.”

What stood out most was the way the defense dictated stretches of the game. Even in a spring setting, McCarty paid close attention to how calls translated on the field and how that impacted the offense possession to possession. That level of detail is something recruits at his position naturally gravitate toward.

The development of younger players also caught his attention. Early enrollees getting meaningful reps and showing progress is always a key storyline in the spring, and it’s something McCarty could see himself stepping into soon.

“It’s really exciting knowing that will be me next year,” he said.

Even as a current commit, McCarty isn’t just watching from the sidelines when it comes to recruiting. He’s actively working to help build out the class and strengthen relationships with other targets.

“Some guys I’m working on is my cousin Albert Simeon, Mark Matthews, Kaden Henderson, Joshua Dobson, John Meredith, and Eric McFarland,” McCarty said.
