Aggie Hoops Enjoying Busy Wednesday

Texas A&M Basketball thoroughly enjoyed Wednesday morning, picking up a transfer from the G-League and having its most talented player announce his return.

Bryson Warren, 21, announced his commitment to the Aggies on social media Wednesday. Warren, who eschewed his college eligibility in order to play in the professional ranks, averaged 19.8 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds per game in 2025-26 for the Westchester Knicks, the G-League affiliate of the New York Knicks — all career highs. He also shot 80.6% from the free throw line and averaged 1.2 steals per game.

Warren also played two seasons for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging nearly 14 points per game in 2024-25 and 7.9 PPG in 2023-24. Warren made himself eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft, but went unselected.

Warren has shot 3-pointers at a prolific rate, rising from five attempts in 2023-24 to 6.7 in 2024-25 to 11.2 per game last year. He made 38.6% of his attempts, making him especially dangerous.

Warren likely steps in to the starting point guard slot, vacated by Jacari Lane (eligibility expired) and Josh Holloway (transfer portal). He will team with fellow new arrival PJ Haggerty, who averaged 23.4 PPG last year at Kansas State.

MgBako announces his return

When Aggie forward Mackenzie Mgbako did not enter the transfer portal before 11 p.m. central time Tuesday night, it became apparent he would return to Texas A&M for the 2026-27 season. Wednesday morning, he and the program made it official.

Mgbako, a former 5-star recruit who signed with Indiana out of high school, was coach Bucky McMillan’s highest-profile signee out of the transfer portal last year. A pair of foot injuries ended his season after just seven games, during which he averaged 10.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-9 forward has offensive versatility, shooting 39% from the field, 34% from 3-point range and 88% at the free throw line. He will almost certainly move back into the starting front court with new arrival Cade Phillips, Zach Clemence, Jamie Vinson and freshman Josh Lucas.
