In one of the best stories of the 2026 NFL draft, Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher has been selected in the second round by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A former walk-on who was used almost exclusively as a blocker at Nebraska, Boerkircher thrived during the 2025 season with the Aggies. His first career touchdown reception was one of the most memorable in Texas A&M history, snagging a 13-yard pass from Marcel Reed on 4th and Goal to help push the Aggies past Notre Dame 41-40 in South Bend last September.
Boerkircher hit his stride after that, catching 19 passes for 198 yards (10.4 YPC) and 3 touchdowns over the course of the entire season. He also got a few carries as a short yardage back, including a touchdown dive against LSU.
His 2025 performance, along with strong performances at the NFL Combine and A&M’s Pro Day, were enough for the Jaguars to take him with their first pick of the draft (24th pick in the second round, 56th overall). He joins a Jacksonville team that went 13-4 last season and won the AFC South.
