The run on Texas A&M Aggies on friday night at the NFL Draft continued through the Start of the Third round, with defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim being selected by the Denver Broncos.
Onyedim, who transferred from Iowa State to A&M last winter, was extremely productive as he played in a three-man rotation with DJ Hicks and Albert Regis at defensive tackle. Onyedim had 48 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks during his sole season in Aggieland, improving markedly as the season went on. He was the second pick taken in the third round, 66th overall.
Having played defensive end in a 3-man front at Iowa State before moving to tackle at A&M, Onyedim provides versatility for a Broncos defense that was ranked third in the NFL last season. He was the fifth Aggie taken in the draft first two rounds, following wide receiver KC Concepcion (first round, Cleveland), guard Chase Bisontis (second round, Arizona), defensive end Cashius Howell (second round, Cincinnati) and tight end Nate Boerkircher (second round, Jacksonville).
