Former Loyla Marymount forward and little Elm native Jalen Shelley is coming back to Texas.
After spending his freshman season at USC, the 6-foot-8, 210-pound wing started all 25 games he played in last season for LMU, averaging 13.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Shelley’s forte is getting to the basket, using a strong first step and long strides to get past defenders.
Shelley shot 45.7% from the field last year and has the range to shoot the 3, but only averaged 28.7% from beyond the arc in 2025-26. He shot 70.4% at the free throw line, averaging 4.6 free throws per game.
Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan likes wings with a strong inside-out game, and Shelley fits the bill. He could be a small forward as he would be in most offenses, or play more of a power forward in A&M’s scheme. His presence will allow the Aggies to stretch defenses even more and allow for greater spacing on the court.
The Aggies now have seven commits from the transfer portal, with Shelley joining guards PJ Haggerty, Tyshawn Archie, Bryson Warren, Jalen Reece and Lukas Walls, and forward Cade Phillips.
