As he prepares for his final high school season, Texas A&M 2027 quarterback commit Jayce Johnson has his priorities set—compete, lead, and leave a lasting impact.

“I’m really just looking forward to competing with my guys and making this season count,” Johnson said. “It’s my last one, so I want to leave a legacy and do everything I can to help lead the team.”
Johnson has spent the offseason sharpening key areas of his game, particularly those that will translate to the next level. His focus has been on improving his ability to read defenses and becoming more consistent under pressure.
“I’ve been working on being more consistent with recognizing defensive coverages and getting myself prepared for the next level,” he said. “I’m also focused on becoming a more vocal leader, both on and off the field.”
Beyond his own development, Johnson has also taken an active role in helping build Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class. He’s been in contact with several top prospects, working to bring more talent to College Station.
“Some players I’ve been recruiting for the ’27 class are Eric McFarland, Josh Dobson, Mark Matthews, Kaden Henderson, Jaiden Bryant, and Briceson Thrower,” Johnson shared.
Looking ahead to his upcoming official visit, Johnson is eager to reconnect with the program and continue strengthening relationships within the class.
“For my OV, I’m excited to get back up there and be around the guys and the staff in person again,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to building stronger relationships with the other commits and especially the offensive players I could be playing with in the future.”
With his senior season approaching and his role as a peer recruiter growing, Johnson is embracing both the responsibility and opportunity that come with being a future Aggie.
