Rising 2028 RB Ian Thomas Seeing Early Recruiting Surge

Four-star 2028 running back Ian Thomas is quickly becoming a name to watch as his recruitment begins to pick up momentum heading into the offseason.

Thomas, a sophomore at Tomball, says things have started to get busy as more programs make their presence felt during spring practices.

“It’s getting pretty busy,” Thomas said. “A lot of different schools have been hitting up spring practices at Tomball.”

Among those programs, Texas A&M has already made early contact. Thomas noted that he’s previously been in communication with Coach Troop, while running backs coach Elijah Robinson — often referred to as “E-Rob” — recently stopped by to evaluate him in person during a spring session. That early attention from the Aggies signals clear interest as they begin building relationships in the 2028 class.

Even with the growing attention, Thomas remains focused on development. As an underclassman, he understands there’s still plenty of room to grow both physically and technically.

“I’m still just a sophomore so I’m constantly working to get better,” he said. “I’m also looking to add some weight and get stronger.”

At this stage in his recruitment, that mindset may be just as important as his on-field production. With college programs already making visits and keeping tabs on his progress, Thomas is positioning himself as a rising prospect with significant upside in the 2028 cycle. If his trajectory continues, expect his recruitment to expand rapidly over the next year.
