Aggies add TE to 2027 class

Texas A&M’s top-ranked 2027 class now has 15 members after the commitment of 3-star tight end holden Niemi Friday morning.

Niemi, a native of Dexter, Michigan, chose the Aggies over the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Indiana, Michigan and Tennessee, among others. He took at least seven trips to Ann Arbor to see the Wolverines, but it only took one trip to College Station to sway him.

Niemi started getting offers from national powers as far back as 2024, but the Aggies didn’t offer until January. That was still enough to get him to visit, and the March 21 trip was a difference maker. Niemi and his family spent significant time with tight ends coach Derek Shay, who made a strong impression.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end compiled 794 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in nine regular season games this past season, earning All-State honors in the process.
