Texas A&M’s first official visit weekend can now be categorized as ORlando (Fla.) Jones 4-Star EDGE Frederick Ards III is the second visitor in two days to commit to the Aggies.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound EDGE had a massive offer list, including offers from Miami, Florida, Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame. He is ranked as a consensus top 100 recruit by all major recruiting services.

A&M did effective work in a limited amount of face time. He visited the nearby Gators six times and Alabama twice, but only visited Aggieland for an unofficial visit in April and an official visit this past weekend.

It was enough.

The combination of Elijah Robinson and Tony Jerod-Eddie were enough to sway Ards over to the Aggies side in just two days. Ards took an official visit to South Carolina in May, but has no others scheduled.

In 2025, Ards put up huge numbers: 80 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and a forced fumbles.

Ards is the 17th commit for the 2027 class and the second in two days, following Lucas Lovejoy linebacker Aston Whiteside, who committed Monday night. He joins an elite group of defensive ends in the class, joining 5-star Zyron Forstall and 4-star Kaden McCarty. He’s the third member of the class from Florida, along with Forstall and 5-star offensive lineman Mark Matthews.
