Chance Archangel has kicked off Texas A&M’s 2028 recruiting class.

After taking part in Texas A&M’s Big Man Camp Tuesday, 4-star EDGE Chance Archangel of New Iberia (La.) Westgate declared his commitment to the Aggies. He is the first member of the 2028 class and the third commitment over all for the day.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Archangel has been on A&M’s radar for quite a while, having picked up an offer at the end of January — of 2025. The Aggies were his first offer, and eventually were followed by in-state LSU, Alabama, Texas, Miami, USC and Notre Dame, among others.

Archangel fits the mold of the defensive end A&M has been looking for the last couple of years: lean, explosive off the snap and fast to the quarterback. His build is not dissimilar to that of consensus All-American Cashius Howell, who was drafted in the second round by the Cincinnati Bengals (though Archangel has a much broader wingspan). If they can production anywhere close to Howell’s from Archangel, the Aggies will truly think he’s heaven sent.
