Texas A&M’s recruiting hot streak continued in a big way Thursday when 5-star linebacker Kaden Henderson committed during an appearance on ESPN.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Tampa Jesuit standout announced his commitment over Notre Dame and LSU during the Pat McAfee Show. It concluded a roller coaster recruitment that saw longtime contender Miami fade late and Notre Dame make a serious late push for Henderson’s services.
The Aggies took the lead for Henderson in the early spring, with in-state Miami appearing to be the biggest opponent for A&M at the time. He took an official visit to Miami the weekend of May 29, but the Hurricanes decided that their chances were so slim that they cut bait last week.
With Miami out, Notre Dame made a serious charge. Over the weekend, Notre Dame appeared to have the lead, with Henderson having already visited Aggieland but having an official visit to South Bend set to start tomorrow. But Mike Elko and his staff turned up the effort and, by earlier this week, Notre Dame’s momentum was stifled and the Aggies resumed their spot as the presumptive leader.
Henderson’s offer list is extensive, including Texas, Georgia, USC, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and many others. In 2025, he tallied 49 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hurries, 9 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four passes broken up while missing five games due to injury.
Henderson is the fourth commit from Florida for the 2027 class and the third commit ranked as the top player in his position.
