The rich keep getting richer, with Texas A&M adding the commitment of 5-star wide receiver Eric McFarland Sunday afternoon.
McFarland, a native of Las Vegas playing at IMG Academy, was one of the most sought-after receivers in the nation.
Even though he’s only 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, McFarland possesses blinding speed and elite agility. He ran a 10.81-second 100-meter dash and averaged 20.5 yards per catch with 11 touchdowns in just nine games in 2025. He was also the Offensive MVP of the Polynesian Bowl, where he had 105 yards of total offense and scored a touchdown.
McFarland had a final three of A&M, Georgia and Florida, but his offer list was pretty remarkable. He had offers from nine different SEC schools, as well as Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami, Michigan and Oregon. He took official visits to all three of his finalists, along with Tennessee.
McFarland had been on the Aggies’ radar for some time, picking up an offer in March of 2025 — when he was supposed to be a member of the class of 2028. He reclassified in December and A&M picked up the intensity immediately. By early spring, the Aggies were considered the team to beat for him.
With McFarland’s commitment, the Aggies now have four receivers in the 2027 class — McFarland, 4-star Jaden Upshaw (Lee County, Ga.), 4-star Damani Warren (Las Vegas Arbor View) and 3-star Trey Haddad (Cleveland St. Ignatius). They have a total of 24 members in the 2027 class, including a remarkable seven 5-stars.
