Camp storylines
- How much will Reed improve year-over-year? His improvement from 2024 to 2025 was significant — he completed a higher percentage of passers, had a higher touchdown pass percentage, improved his yards per attempt and yards per catch and ended up with more than 3,500 yards of total offense. But his 12 interceptions — four of which were in the last two games and six in the final four — were major problems. If he makes another big jump, he’ll be a Heisman candidate.
- Can Reed cut down on those interceptions? His decision making may be the ultimate storyline for the season. Not only did he throw six of his picks in three games (he didn’t throw one against Samford), but he threw four interceptions in the end zone to kill drives (one against LSU, one against Florida, one against Texas and the game-ender against Miami). It’s not just how many, but when they were thrown. If he fixes the where and the why (pressing, probably), he’ll be in great shape. You always want 7 instead of 3, but 3 is better than nothing.
- Who will be the backup? Odds are it will be Hart, because nobody else was close in the spring. Casuga has the gifts, but looked like a true freshman trying to find his way in the spring. Morcos appears to be more of a scrambler at this point than a refined passer. If someone’s going to beat out Hart, they’re going to have to have a great summer.
