Texas A&M has picked up its first offensive commit for the 2028 recruiting class, and it’s a big one.

Detroit Cass Tech’s Donald Tabron II, one of the highest-rated quarterbacks in the nation for the class of 2028, committed to the Aggies Saturday afternoon. He picked A&M over LSU and Oregon.
Tabron is not only an elite quarterback prospect, he’s the first player from a high school in the Motor City to commit to the Aggies going back to at least 1998. Cass Tech is a national powerhouse, winning the Michigan Division 1 state championship in 2024 and finishing at the runner-up last year.
Tabron, a composite 5-star, has started at Cass Tech since his freshman season. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound signal caller threw for 2,819 passing yards and 35 touchdowns last season as the Technicians put up a 13-1 record.
Tabron visited Aggieland last October, attending A&M’s 31-9 blowout win over Mississippi State. He was offered on the visit and the Aggies immediately shot to the top of his list. He visited again in June for A&M’s passing camp and, at that point, all signs pointed to the Aggies as his top pick.
In addition to LSU and Oregon, Tabron has offers from Auburn, Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan and Miami, among others. He is the second member of the Aggies’ 2028 recruiting class, joining consensus 4-star defensive end Chance Archangel of New Iberia, La.
