Running back Jamarion Morrow and wide receiver AShton Bethel-Roman both missed Texas A&M’s 31-21 loss to Kentucky with injuries. THere’s hope, however, that they may be ready to play Saturday at LSU.

Both Morrow and Bethel-Roman were listed as questionable on Wednesday night’s injury report released by the SEC. Last Wednesday, the two were listed as doubtful and were ruled out by Friday night.

A “questionable” designation indicates a player has a 50% chance of playing Saturday. A “doubtful” designation means the chances of player are 25% or less.

The return of Morrow and Bethel-Roman would be a boost to the Aggies (2-1, 0-1 SEC), who lost wide receiver (and occasional running back) Terry Bussey to a season-ending knee injury last weekend. During the game, freshman running back KJ Edwards suffered an injury in the first quarter and did not return, leaving Rueben Owens and freshman Carsyn Baker as the only healthy backs from what had been a group that once could have gone five deep.

While the Aggies received some fairly good news on the injury front, LSU (2-1, 0-1) has already ruled two starters and their primary kick returner out.

The big name is tight end Trey’Dez Green, the 6-foot-7 matchup nightmare who caught a touchdown last year in A&M’s 49-25 rout of the Tigers in Baton Rouge. Green suffered a leg injury against Ole Miss last weekend and is expected to miss multiple games, though it is not expected that his season is over. Green had already caught 14 passes for 222 yards (15.9 YPC) and a touchdown before the injury.

The other starter is STAR Dashawn Spears, who is out for the season after hurting his knee against Ole Miss. Spears, who was originally a safety, was spun down to STAR by coach Lane Kiffin’s staff this season. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound Spears was off to a solid start for LSU, tallying seven tackles and a sack before his injury.

Wide receiver Phillip Wright III, who had been returning kickoffs for the Tigers, is also out for the year. Wright, who had three catches for 70 yards and a touchdown in LSU’s season-opening rout of Clemson, suffered a knee injury against Louisiana Tech that finished his season.

Cornerback Ja’keem Jackson, who picked off a pass in the Ole Miss game, is currently listed as doubtful for Saturday night, while starting safety Tamarcus Cooley is listed as questionable.
