–FIRST QUARTER

The Aggies have made a change up front with the offensive line. WIlkin Formby, who played right guard for much of last season at Alabama, has been moved back there tonight. Sophomore Lamont Rogers will start at right tackle.

On their first drive, LSU goes 3 and out. Two great plays by nickel Jordan Rogers, stopping WR Eugene Wilson with a good tackle on 2nd and 6 for a gain of 2, then breaking up the third down pass.

The Aggies also go three and out. Isaiah Horton was open on 2nd and 7 and Reed missed him on the curl route, but there was a penalty. Third down pass is thrown away to coach Mike Elko.

LSU moves the ball 82 yards for a touchdown on their second drive, with the big play being a 35-yard run by Dilin Jones. The Aggies looked disoriented, missed multiple tackles and covered poorly in the passing game. Not a good look at all for a team that got battered last week.

9:37 1st quarter: LSU 7, Texas A&M 0

Drive #2 for A&M is frustrating as well. Reed makes a nice play to roll and complete a pass to Horton for 15 yards, but it’s wiped out by a penalty. Then Owens for no gain and then drops an easy catch on 3rd down.

Tyler White pounds another punt for 55 yards and Bravion Rogers pulls down Eugene Wilson for a loss of a yard at the LSU 24.

The Aggies force a 3 and out of their own after Sam Leavitt scrambles on 3rd and 6 but slides too early and replay overturns the first down. The Aggies don’t jump on 4th and 1, LSU takes the delay of game and punts. Mario Craver is immediately taken down at the A&M 24.

A&M’s defense has done what it needed to on two of three drives — and they were disciplined on those drives. But they have to do a better job of spying Leavitt. He’s already confused Noah Mikhail on one run, so the Aggies have to stay smart and not run themselves out of the play.

The Aggies get their first first down on a 16-yard run by Reuben Owens and get near midfield before punting. Owens nearly picks up a first down on 3rd and 8 but is tripped up.

After a touchback, LSU goes 3 and out. LSU hasn’t been able to run the ball up the middle since that one drive.

On the first down play, Reed rolls to his right and has Bethel-Roman open and throws behind him. After a short run and a false start, Reed connects with Craver on a tunnel screen, then Craver — with help from tight end Micah Riley — pushes forward for a first down and a 16-yard gain.

That play ends the first quarter. LSU 7, Texas A&M 0, Aggies with the ball, 1st and 10 at their own 44.

Second quarter

Owens carries for 5 and is saved by the whistle from a fumble. Then Craver runs a quick sweep for 6 and another first down. A good completion from Reed to Craver for another first down, then Owens breaks another one for 10 yards and another first down to the LSU 19.

On the most physical drive of the season, left tackle Tyree Adams gets shaken up, but is able to walk off the field.

Now that they’re in the red zone, the Aggies need to get smart because they were awful in the red zone last weekend, especially in the first quarter.

A&M gets the ball down to the LSU 6, but Reed misses two passes badly and the Aggies have to settle for a 24-yard field goal from David Olano.

Reed is now 3-10 for 31 yards.

Score: LSU 7, A&M 3, 8:46 second quarter

LSU starts their drive with a 26-yard completion from Leavitt to Jackson Harris, but the Aggies force the Tigers into a 4th and 4 and, while DJ Hicks nearly jumps for the offsides call, but there’s no call. So LSU takes a delay penalty and punts.

A&M is now without WR Mario Craver, who went to the locker room. The punt is not a good one and the Aggies take over at their 25.

Reed has Isaiah Horton open on a fly down the right sideline and overthrows him. Another really bad throw. Then he does find Horton on a slant for 8. It looks like Reed has made some magic with a throw on the run to Kelshaun Johnson for 23, but Micah Riley is called for offensive pass interference and wipes it out. Reed throws short to Houston Thomas for 5 and the Aggies punt.

Tyler White booms another beastly kick, a 55-yarder than is taken with a fair catch at the LSU 17.

A&M forces LSU into a 3rd and 7 immediately, but Leavitt finds Winston Watkins for 35 yards. A&M forces a hold, but the Leavitt finds Watkins on a wide open wheel route and it’s a first down in the red zone. Leavitt finds Jackson Harris for a perfect 16-yard touchdown.
