At noon, I thought I’d just be bemoaning A&M’s offensive issues. Glad I didn’t start writing then.

1. The SEC has taken another major step towards policing itself with the passage of a measure that makes all NIL and revenue-sharing contracts uniform. Man, what a wild and crazy idea that is. Have everyone on the same playing field. NCAA, why didn’t you think of that? Hello? Bueller?

2. Speaking of the NCAA, their vendetta against LSU is not over. Not by a long shot. In fact, they made an addition to the federal lawsuit in Birmingham today, in which they cited LSU’s “ongoing defiance of the Conference’s professionalism rules, and the very real threat … the defendants will interfere with any effort to terminate LSU’s membership in the conference. That dispute remains live.”

3. When it looked like the SEC-LSU brawl was being put on hold, I said it probably wasn’t over and wrote something to the effect of “Will Wade hasn’t had his chance to piss the SEC off yet.” And lo, here we are. In the filing added today, the SEC puts the crosshairs on Wade and his effort to put a subpar NBA team on the court in Baton Rouge. In particular, the conference brings up the case of RJ Luis, the 2024 Big East player of the year at St. John’s who has signed two pro contracts and was actually traded last year.

“LSU has openly recruited former NBA player RJ Luis Jr., has allowed him to practice with LSU’s men’s basketball team and has refused to publicly and definitively state that he will not be included on LSU’s basketball roster,” the SEC’s lawsuit states. If Lane Kiffin had put his pros on the field, I guarantee you Wade would too and all hell would break loose. I still wouldn’t past him to do it anyway.

4. Not to dogpile on LSU in an A&M-related article, but they just screwed up so badly today. Wade didn’t even get to Birmingham for SEC Basketball Media Days due to “heavy fog” — I personally think the cooler temperatures brought Lane Kiffin’s hot air back down to surface level — but he was able to get into a yelling match with SI’s Pat Forde anyway. These two guys have a history, but when Forde asked him the players LSU has that are ineligible, Wade snapped, “Do you even follow us? Or are you just here to ask ‘Gotcha’ questions?” Ok, Forde may not be the most likable guy and he’s one of the three reporters who started the process that got Wade fired at LSU he first time, but that’s a really dumb move by Wade. First, it’s unprofessional. Second, picking fights with reporters just makes them all the more eager to take you down. And LSU needs all the friends they can get right now.

5. Today some site I’ve never heard of — Sportico — released a story that they breathlessly splashed on social media saying that Texags had received millions of dollars from the 12th Man Foundation last year. Millions, I TELL YOU!

Well, yeah. They’ve had an agreement for 15 years and A&M’s NIL efforts are, in good part, run through Texags. So, my response to this huge, breaking news story is…

If you’re interested in a site covering the Aggies who is not affiliated with the 12th Man Foundation, I can suggest one. And we’re doing a special for $1 for your first month right now.

6. The Aggie offense could sure use a shock to its system. It’s been as horrible as it’s been since the days of the Gulf Coast Offense, and I apologize to R.C. for even comparing them to that.
They’re 113th in scoring offense, 113th in red zone offense, 108th in passing offense, 130th in passing efficiency, 126th in completion percentage and 125th in interceptions thrown. I know Coach Elko is very loyal to Marcel Reed, but you can’t win games like that.

7. Now that Jamarion Morrow is back, he and KJ Edwards should be getting the majority of the carries. Sorry, but that’s just borne out by the numbers. Rueben Owens is just one of several Aggie offensive players who have regressed this season, and again, you can’t win the way things have been going.

8. I thought it was interesting to hear Elko say that he’s turned over the playcalling duties to Lyle Hemphill after the disaster at LSU. And that Hemphill was the guy calling up the blitzes last weekend at Missouri. That’s the way this defense needs to play and hopefully that’s going to continue, because seeing A&M 130th in team sacks makes me want to puke.

9. Another thing that brings the puke pail around is that A&M is still 43rd in total defense, 13th in 3rd down conversion defense and 12th in red zone defense. In other words, if the offense can play halfway decent, A&M’s going to win ballgames. And, right now, they can’t even do that.

10. Props to my old friend Mike Evans, who had a great game for the 49ers — 7 catches, 113 yards, 1 TD — over the weekend. Double props for absolutely humiliating Seattle cornerback Trevon Diggs by turning him around to see who he was by looking at his nameplate. He will deny it until he dies, but that is world class smack talk.
