The Bottom 10

You know it, you love it — now it has a life of its own! The bottom 10 has gone Skynet and is now standing alone!

A football player from Tulsa wearing jersey number 10 is in the process of throwing a pass while being pressured by a defender from Rice, who is attempting to tackle him.
Who are the 10 worst teams in college football? Here’s what The Huddle thinks.

Here are the 10 worst teams in college football (give or take) after seven weeks of play:

10. Maryland (2-5)

Rutgers has been terrible this year. They went into College Park and beat the Terps 37-30. That was enough for Mike Locksley to fire his defensive coordinator.

9. Rice (1-6)

Annihilated by Tulsa. And their alumni base hates that they sold the naming rights to Rice Stadium. Why they care is the real question — they don’t show up anyway.

8. Sam HOuston (1-5)

Have been outscored 51-6 in two conference games after losing 16-3 to Western Kentucky.

7. Akron (1-6)

Have lost five in a row after getting crushed 34-14 by a bad Miami (Ohio) team.

6. Sacramento State (1-6)

Also on a five game losing streak after being destroyed 48-7 by Ohio.

5. Hawaii (1-6)

Welcome to the Bottom 10, Rainbows! On a four-game losing streak, they have scored 48 points total.

4. UTEP (1-6)

The World’s Most Terrible Defense (Patent Pending) only gave up 24 points to San Jose State. They lost. In two weeks, they play Hawaii. The horrible offense against the terrible defense. Something has to give.

3. Charlotte (1-6)

They won! They won! They beat Temple 38-31 on Saturday. They’ve still given up 284 points so far, most in FBS by a wide margin.

2. ULM (0-6)

And the worst team in America this week is…

1. Northern Illinois (0-6)

Got ripped 41-22 by Wyoming. But they have a real chance at winning this weekend, because they play…Hawaii.
