Heavy Initial Aggies-Tide Injury Report

Five key Texas A&M football players are questionable for Saturday’s clash with Alabama (2:30 p.m., ABC), while the Crimson Tide will be missing some key pieces of their own.

Texas A&M may not have Mario Craver or Ashton Bethel-Roman Saturday.

In Wednesday night’s availability report, the Aggies listed wide receivers Terry Bussey and Kelshaun Johnson, as well as offensive lineman Blake Ivy, as out. Bussey and Ivy are both out for the season with injuries; Johnson’s exact status is unknown.

The questionable (50/50 chance of playing) list is concerning. Wide receiver Mario Craver, defensive tackle DJ Hicks, defensive end Anto Saka, linebacker Daymion Sanford and offensive guard Trovon Baugh are all questionable at this point. All five sat out last weekend’s 41-0 win over The Citadel.

Craver, the team’s leading receiver, has been hampered by an ankle injury for the past month. Still, he leads the team in receptions with 24, is second in yards with 241 and has caught a pair of touchdown passes.

Hicks, who started the first six games of the season, has 12 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and .5 sacks on the year. He also is tied for the team lead in quarterback hurries (3) with Saka, who has 10 tackles, 2 TFL and .5 sacks.

Sanford, a team captain, had seen limited playing time early in the season as he recovered from a leg injury suffered in the Maroon & White Game in April but had started to round into form before being injured against Missouri. Sanford has 16 tackles, 1 TFL and an interception so far this season. If he cannot go Saturday, Ray Coney and Noah Mikhail will be the primary linebackers used by A&M.

Baugh, who shifted from right guard to left guard earlier this season, has started each of the six games he’s played in this season. If he were to be unable to play Saturday, freshman Sam Roseborough would likely make his second start in a row in his place.

A player who is not on the availability report, but whose status remains murky, is receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman. He missed the win over The Citadel, and Coach Mike Elko said he was dealing with some “personal issues”. When asked about Bethel-Roman’s availability at his Monday press conference, Elko demurred, saying he’d let the injury report speak for itself.

Alabama also missing key players

The Crimson Tide, which is coping with a two-game losing streak, already has six players designated as out for Saturday’s game. The big name is wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, who had arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee late last week and will miss several games. Williams was off to an outstanding start to 2026, with 23 catches for 415 yards (18 YPC) and 4 touchdowns.

Starting nose tackle Terrance Green is also listed as out. Green had 11 tackles, 4 TFL and 2.5 sacks before being hurt in the first half against Georgia two weekends ago.

Linebacker Desmond Umeozulu (6 tackles, 1 TFL in three games), linebacker Cayden Jones, defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman and defensive back Nick Sherman are also listed as out.

As with the Aggies, the questionable list for Alabama is attention-getting. Starting center Racin Delgatty, who started on last week’s injury list as questionable before being downgraded to out on Friday, is questionable again this week. Cornerback and team captain Zabien Brown, who has 19 tackles and a team-high four passes defensed, is also questionable.

Running back EJ Crowell, who has carried the ball 32 times for 216 yards (6.8 YPC) and four touchdowns, is also a 50/50 proposition to play.
