During his time at Texas A&M, Buzz Williams didn’t think he could land elite talent. Bucky McMillan begs to differ.

McMillan and the Aggies landed the commitment of consensus 4-star forward Dylan Jones Monday, topping the likes of familiar basketball powers Memphis and Providence. Ole Miss, Tennessee and Alabama were also in the mix for the 6-foot-6, 210-pound Jones, who is widely regarded as the best player in the state of Tennessee for the 2027 recruiting class.
During the 2025-26 high school season, Jones averaged 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Unlike a lot of McMillan’s commits, Jones is more comfortable operating inside the arc, bringing an attacking mentality to the court. He only shot 28% from 3-point range during Nike EYBL play, but had a shooting percentage near 50%.
Jones is a physical forward who is more developed than most high school seniors, as he’ll turn 19 in February 2027. While he doesn’t mind contact, he’s also developed a solid mid-range game — shots McMillan doesn’t normally like his players to take. But, with his ability to get the hoop, draw fouls and play tenacious defense, shot selection will probably be a little overlooked.
Jones joins Friendswood PG 4-star Josh Richardson as A&M’s 2027 commits. He is universally ranked as a top-10 small forward for 2027 and in the top 40 overall. He is the third top 100 commit for McMillan in 18 months, joining current Aggies Neiko Mundey and Josh Irving.
