Problems on the boards?

In 2025-26, the Aggies were outrebounded by an average of about four rebounds a game. In spite of the additions of Josh Irving, Cade Phillips and Jalen Shelley (who had a double-double Tuesday night) and the return of Mackenzie Mgbako, A&M was outrebounded 44-43 by an undermanned and undersized Alabama State team.

Of greater concern was the fact that the Hornets had more offensive rebounds than A&M, 16 to 14. Ten of those offensive rebounds came in the second half, when Alabama State made 12 of 37 shots.

Mundey’s return nears

During his press conference last night, A&M Coach Bucky McMillan was asked about the status of sophomore guard Neiko Mundey, who did not play in either the exhibition game or Tuesday night’s season opener. McMillan indicated that Mundey, who has been shut down with an undisclosed injury, may be nearing a return.

“Neiko Mundey should be back here really soon. We’re obviously missing two players that should be back for us,” McMillan said.

The other is guard Rylan Griffen, who is currently ineligible.
